New associate senior lecturer in Spanish literature

María Teresa Navarrete is a new associate senior lecturer in Spanish literature at the Department of Modern Languages.

Her most recent position was as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universities of Gent and Antwerpen, Belgium (2018-2020). She has also worked as an assistant teacher and researcher in Hispanic Literature at the University of Gent (2014-2018). 

María Teresa Navarrete studied Hispanic Philology at the University of Cádiz, Spain. She has a MA degree in Hispanic Studies (University of Cádiz) and a MA degree in Contemporary Hispanic Poetry (University of Granada, Spain). In 2015, she obtained her PhD degree at the University of Cádiz with a dissertation titled "La literatura de Julia Uceda (1959-2015)", which has been published recently as "La poesía de Julia Uceda" (Visor, 2020). Her research interests include contemporary Spanish poetry, poetry written by women, literary networks, and trauma studies. 

At the Department of Modern Languages, María Teresa Navarrete will teach Hispanic literature and culture. She will research Spanish poetry written under Franco Dictatorship and Spanish literary networks before and after the Spanish Civil War.

María Teresa joined the Department of Modern Languages on 1 March 2021.
